A light breeze of change is blowing around the third-generation W166 M-Class, Mercedes’ contender in the luxury mid-size SUV segment with rivals including the BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.
Launched in the summer of 2011, the German SUV will go under the knife with these spy pictures of a camouflages prototype suggesting that it will receive a new face with different designs for the hood, bumper and grille.
There’s nothing new to see at the back, but by the time it arrives in the market in late 2014 or early 2015, it may sport some updates in the rear as well.
At a first look inside, it seems like Benz didn’t bother with the interior, but if you pay attention to the covered center stack, you’ll notice that there’s something mounted on top, and which we believe to be a tablet like touch-screen for the revised Command infotainment system that has been making its appearance on newer Mercedes models.
We don’t have anything to report about the drivetrain yet, but Mercedes usually applies updates under the hood on its mid-life cycle models.
