The rumor mill has been full of stories about a new Toyota Supra sports coupe for as long as, well, since the demise of the last one in 2002 after a 10 year-long production run.
Now, the team at Autoblog.com is adding one more to the mix after one of its editors sat down with a group of Toyota execs on the sidelines of a recent presentation.
They say Toyota’s people hinted in “not-so-cryptic terms” that they will “shock the world” with a new Supra concept at the 2014 Detroit motor show in January, and that, the study will preview an upcoming production version.
With about a month left for the Detroit show, we’ll soon find out if both the aforementioned report and whether the other rumor about the Supra being based on the BMW Group and Toyota joint project for the development of a common platform architecture and components for a future sports car series from the two brands, hold true.
