The term “black ice” is slightly misleading as ice is, well, transparent, but we use it nevertheless, because when frozen water forms on the surface of roads, you cannot really distinguish it from the black asphalt.
We’ve seen plenty of accidents, mishaps and near misses caused by black ice, and surely most of you, who either live in or have travelled to places with freezing temperatures, have experienced the sudden loss of traction first hand at some point in your driving careers.
The following video was purportedly recorded in Poland and it shows what happened when unsuspecting motorists hit black ice with their cars – and yes, we too are wondering why no one came to at least warn the drivers.
