You may remember the story of Irv Gordon who first made automotive headlines back in 2007 when his 1966 Volvo P1800 Coupe’s odometer crossed the 2.6 million mile (4.18 million km) mark, and again just last summer, when he reported approaching 3 million miles (4.8 million km).
Well, this find represents the exact opposite, as the pictured 1973 Volvo 1800 ES, which is the rarer shooting-brake sibling of the P1800 Coupe, has traveled a meager 88 miles (a hair less than 142 km) since it rolled off the production line in Gothenburg more than four decades ago!
To no one’s surprise, the car looks immaculate in the provided photos from the seller – and yes, you can actually own it, just as long as you have $73,900 (€53,900 or for our Swedish readers, SEK 476,838) in your automotive piggy bank.
Approximately 47,500 models of the P1800 series were produced from 1961 through 1973, of which around 39,400 were coupes and 8,100 estates coupes, as the one seen here.
The 1970s orange shaded model has a 4-cylinder B20 petrol engine said to produce 112-horses, linked to a 4-speed manual gearbox.
As for the car’s history, the sellers over at ExoticClassics mention that, “this 1800ES was purchased from its original owner, a long time Kansas City Volvo dealer. This was part of his private collection. It has been borrowed and displayed by Volvo for promotional purposes”.
I know that more than $70k sounds a lot for a forty year old car, but just look at it and tell me you wouldn’t want to take it for a spin, let alone have it parked in your garage for your personal enjoyment.
