You may recall that about a year ago, at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Kia released the subtly facelifted Optima sedan, and that while the Hybrid version of the series obtained an updated powertrain with less power (199hp instead of 206hp) but improved torque (from 195 to 235 lb-ft) and fuel economy, it forwent the cosmetic tweaks.

Now it’s time for the Optima Hybrid to get its visual makeover with Kia releasing the car at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.

The Hybrid gains a revised front end with model-specific styling cues such as the new grille and bumper with bespoke LED lighting, bigger rear lights, a reshaped rear bumper and new wheel designs, with Kia stating that these updates help increase aerodynamic efficiency.

You will also find new “Hybrid” fender badges along with a new optionally available white leather package, and all the other interior improvements made to the gasoline-powered 2014 Optima, including a 4.3-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster and an optional high-resolution 8-inch navigation and telematics screen with UVO eServices.

We expect Kia to release pricing soon on the 2014 Optima Hybrid.
