Despite the fact that previous generations of Apple’s maps and directions system had the habit of sending people into the middle of the desert (at least in Australia it did so), the tech giant is not giving up and wants complete integration with future cars’ infotainment systems. Much in the same way as Android is doing it, so too is Apple, if only to not lose ground and be left behind.
Now, one of their devs released a video showing what the above will actually look like, integrated into a new version of their OS.
It makes it plainly clear that the car’s largest screen, the one on the center stack, will display the same Apple interface as the phone or device that you use, and the two will be required to make everything work: you introduce input via the phone touchscreen (or via voice control) and then have the information displayed on the big screen.
Take note that what you see here is an example of a very early stage of development running on an emulator, however, we could see it debut in an actual production car this year according to the report from Jalopnik.
