The GLA is the taller and supposedly roomier brother of the rakish A-Class, and it’s a model that Mercedes has released as a more comfortable and practical alternative to the regular hatch. The similarities between the two are quite striking, though the crossover does get a notably different rear end design with oversized light clusters, and they look similar inside too.
However, as the WhatCar? reader preview highlights, it’s not to everybody’s taste.
The people invited over to have a prod around had mixed feelings about the GLA. Some liked the styling, others found it brash, and the boot was also criticized. Additionally, the new bold styling was bound to stir up some negative feelings in the few people that liked the old A- and B-Class models, or not necessarily liked them, but found them practical, boxy and easy to carry stuff in.
