We know all too well that, Aussies receive the proverbial shaft when it comes to paying for new car models, but damn… What provoked this discussion is the release of pricing information for the new and tasty-looking F-Type Coupe from Jaguar Australia.
The entry price to get your feet inside the most basic edition of the series with the 335hp (340PS / 250kW) 3.0-liter supercharged V6 is a startling AU$119,900 excluding all on-road costs*, which at today’s currency rates equals to around US$107,700, €78,700 and £64,700.
The same car (not taking into consideration any regional differences in equipment), will cost you US$65,000 in the USA (MSRP excluding tax/VAT), €68,700 in Germany and £51,235 in Britain.
Similarly, the more potent F-Type Coupe S with a 375hp (380PS / 280kW) Supercharged V6 is priced from AU$152,300* in Australia (US$136,700, €99,900 and £82,100), when Americans pay an MSRP of US$77,000, Germans €78,500 and Brits £60,235.
As far as the range-topper is concerned, the 543hp (550PS / 405kW) F-Type R carries a recommended retail sticker (or is that stick it?) price of AU$219,600 (US$197,000, €144,000 and £1118,400. The V8-powered model has a starting MSRP of US$99,000 in the U.S, €103,700 in Germany and £85,000 in Britain.
And if you think that’s crazy, just ask Australians how much they pay for housing…
