Is Hyundai about to tackle the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008 and Opel Mokka small crossovers of this world?

The appearance of a mostly covered up prototype testing in Europe certainly suggests so, however, there’s also the possibility that this small crossover model may only be for consumption in China and other related emerging markets like Brazil.

Reports from China mention that Hyundai will unveil a new ix25 small CUV based on the underpinnings of the i20 at the Beijing motor show in April, and what you see here could be that car.

If we rewind the clock back to December last year, you may recall Hyundai releasing a press statement together with a single sketch for a new concept model named the Intrado, scheduled for a world premiere at next month’s Geneva Auto Show. We believe that, besides showcasing Hyundai’s latest design language, the Intrado may also preview a small crossover for global markets, including North America and Europe.

Whether the Intrado Concept and the ix25 pictured here are related, remains to be seen.
