We’ve already seen the first photos of the new Leon Cupra, which for the first time, is available in two flavors: the standard Cupra with 262 hp (265PS) and the Cupra 280 with 276 hp (280PS). Furthermore, it will be offered in two body styles: the five-door and the three-door SC (Sport Coupé).

Now Seat has released a more comprehensive photo gallery of its new high-performance Leon, as well as a short video that teases a presumably fast Nürburgring lap. Scheduled to debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Seat Leon Cupra is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI petrol engine with dual injection and variable camshaft timing. In both states of tune, the engine produces 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque from 1,750 to 5,600 rpm.

Taking into account that the car weighs no more than 1,300 kilograms (2,866 lbs), the engine’s output is enough to propel the top Leon Cupra 280 with optional DSG transmission from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.7 seconds (5.8 seconds with the manual gearbox) and on to a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The base Leon Cupra is only marginally slower, needing 5.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill (5.9 seconds with manual transmission).

The average fuel consumption for both power variants is 6.4 liters/100 km (36.7 mpg US) in combination with the DSG and and 6.6 l/100 km (35.6 mpg US) with the manual gearbox. CO2 figures are 149 and 154 grams, accounting for a reduction of up to 41 grams compared with the previous model.

The Cupra benefits from features including a front differential lock, the DCC dynamic chassis control, progressive steering and the Cupra Drive Profile. The latter consists of three different driving modes: Comfort, Sport and Cupra.
