No matter how loud or how many times Subaru fans voice their opinion for a more powerful, and preferably, turbocharged BRZ Coupe, the Japanese carmaker doesn’t seem to be interested in filling that need / gap in the car’s range.
Instead, as we learn from a Car&Driver magazine report, Subaru is working on a special edition version of the BRZ for North American consumers, featuring primarily cosmetic add-ons, including “special side skirts and a rear wing as part of the package”, which may or may not wear the STI badge – the report is unclear on that.
Strangely, it’s mentioned that the special edition BRZ won’t get any of the STI-branded chassis bits to improve handling – present on the Japanese market BRZ tS and tS GT that was introduced last summer, and which is pictured in our gallery below.
