Super station wagons are a beloved subject of German premium automakers dating back to the Audi RS2 Avant, but they’re not alone; Cadillac has given it a stab with the CTS V Wagon and now Jaguar is also preparing to enter this niche performance segment with the XFR-S Sportbrake.
This allegedly official, grainy image of the production XFR-S Sportbrake was purportedly leaked to Autocar magazine, which also claims to have in its possession some preliminary details on the car.
These include the adoption of the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 with 542hp (550PS) and 502 lb-ft (680Nm) of peak torque as the XFR-S saloon offering similar performance figures (0-60mph or 96km/h in under 5.0 seconds and a top speed of around 180mph or 290 km/h).
We’re also told that in England, the new XFR-S Sportbrake will cost “just over £80k” – the saloon is listed for £79,995.
If the picture turns out to be real, then there’s a strong possibility that Jaguar may unveil the car at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
