Nothing can really be called high-tech any more (or not for long, anyway) since something newer and better always comes along once it goes public and competitors immediately start scheming ways to outdo it.
It’s sadly today’s most powerful drive to achieve and progress (as opposed to through cooperation), but it has the positive side effect of making cool tech obsolete quickly, and this makes for some excellent toys, bots or drones that people can realistically buy, build and operate and still get a real cutting-edge kick out of it.
We’ve featured drones before here, but the MOSS builder kit is something different. It uses blocks of different colors and purposes to allow the user to quickly create a wheeled vehicle of his or her choice that is very simple to make operate. As the Engadget video posted below shows, all you have to do is know which color cube does what and you’re all set.
MOSS shares its basic idea with other systems is not necessarily destined to be used by very small kids, but it seems easy enough for a seven-year old to pick up with some help. Since LEGO seems to have almost lost out to the i-tablet, perhaps this is the next step in that direction?
