Porsche is expanding its Driver’s Selection range to include three new bicycles, available from March 2014. Made from lightweight materials, the Porsche Bike RX, Porsche Bike RS and Porsche Bike promise to deliver a sporty ride both on the road and off it.

The design of the bikes is typically Porsche, with their frames reminding of the silhouette cut by the German sportscars. Conceived for off-road routes, the Porsche Bike RX features a 20-speed Shimano gear assembly, 27.5-inch wheels and a carbon frame that combines stability with a low weight and “outstanding damping properties”. The bike also has a DT Swiss air-suspension fork and hydraulic disc brakes from Magura. The Bike RX costs €4,800 ($6,600) in Germany.

The Porsche Bike RS weighs only 9 kilograms (19.8 lbs) thanks to its high-end frame with components made from carbon. Designed for sporty rides through urban settings or on extended trips, the Bike RS has a 20-speed Shimano gear assembly and ultra-lightweight brakes from Magura. The Bike RS is the most expensive of the three, at €5,900 ($8,110).

Finally, the Porsche Bike is made for the city, featuring a Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub gear assembly and MT26 disc brakes from Magura. It is available for €2,650 ($3,645).

All three models feature an anti-theft label applied as standard under the paint on the frame. The label contains a unique code that can be used online to report the bike as stolen. Registered bikes can ultimately be checked by anyone – online and while on the move – simply by using an iPhone app and QR code, making it considerably more difficult to sell on stolen bikes.

The bikes will available in three sizes (S, M and L).
