It’s been a very long time in the making, but the first move to re-introduce the Alfa Romeo brand to the U.S. will take place at the New York Auto Show in April with the North American premiere of the new 4C mid-engine sports car, which was just recently displayed in roadster form at the Geneva Motor Show.

“The recent announcement that Alfa Romeo is returning to the market and has chosen the New York Auto Show to mark the occasion is very special for us and will be well received by our visitors,” remarked NY Auto Show Chairman John LaSorsa.

Official details about the U.S. –specification 4C remain scarce, but don’t expect any significant changes over the European model that draws its mojo from a 240PS (237hp) 1.75-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired to a standard TCT double-clutch gearbox.

It has been previously mentioned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne that the 4C is scheduled go on sale in the U.S. this June at select Maserati and Fiat dealerships across the country, but we’ll believe it when we see it…
