BMW and the motorcycle racing organizers at MotoGP have worked hand-in-hand for well over a decade, with the Bavarian automaker taking on the role of the provider of safety cars.

In the past few years, we’ve seen the 1-Series M Coupe, the M6 Coupe and M6 Gran Coupe wearing their safety car uniforms, and now, BMW has prepared the M4 Coupe for the 2014 season of the MotoGP that kicks off in Qatar from March 20-23.

While BMW hasn’t shared any specific information about the M4 Safety Car, from the initial images it provided, we see that, aside from the M livery and warning lights, it differs from the regular production model through new aerodynamic parts such as the front splitter, boot lid spoiler and rear diffuser, along with new tailpipe surrounds and exterior mirror caps, all made from carbon fiber.

Previous BMW safety cars have featured other upgrades, including race-tuned exhausts and bucket seats with 6-point safety belts, which should be found on the M4 Coupe as well.
