Malaysia has been the focus of the world for the past couple of weeks after the baffling disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 on March 8, and while efforts to find the plane continue, in another area of transportation in the country, we have some lighter news with fresh photos of the BMW DesignworksUSA penned train.
Based on the Metro Inspiro by German train manufacturer Siemens and built by Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT), the new M-striped trains will soon serve Klang Valley, the metropolitan region around Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur, which is home to approximately 4 million people.
A total of 58 driverless trains will be in service as of 2017, with each four-car train-set to have a capacity of 1,200 passengers and a 30-year life cycle. Furthermore, the light weight stainless steel car bodies will be approximately 95 percent recyclable.
