Daimler has announced that it will commence selling the all-wheel drive version of its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van in the U.S.. The news is official and sees this unique commercial proposition arriving in the States in the first quarter of 2015.

The Sprinter 4×4 will be exclusively available with the more powerful version of the 3.0-liter V6 diesel they offer, which in US-spec makes 188 hp and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm); it’s worth noting that both numbers are down on what Ram has to offer with its Italian-made six-cylinder engine.

Suspension of the 4×4 is lifted by 4.2 inches (11 cm) at the front and 3.1 inches (8 cm), making it a claimed 20 percent better at dealing with gradients than a regular Sprinter.

Buyers will be able to specify their Sprinter 4×4 as either passenger van, crew van (two-rows for passengers, bed in the back for cargo) and full-cargo van.
