That’s more like it; instead of fiddling around with the Amarok’s 2.0-liter TDI range, German tuning brand MTM went ahead and borrowed Audi’s 4.2-liter V8 turbo diesel and made a monster out of Volkswagen’s mid-size pickup truck.
The V8 TDI has plenty of power at 410PS (404hp) and even more torque at…930Nm (686 lb-ft), allowing the Amarok to return a Golf GTI-beating 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration time of 6.0 seconds and a respectable top speed of 222km/h (138mph).
MTM says that “to enable the driver to call on this without any driver acrobatics”, the tuned Amarok waves goodbye to the stock model’s leaf springs that are replaced with a Panhard rod combined with air springs, while it also upgraded the front and rear brake systems
The truck now rides on new 22-inch wheels shod in Michelin Latitude 295/40 22s tires.
More information on MTM’s Amarok V8 TDI will be provided at the Geneva Motor Show where the truck will have its world premiere.
