A sports car like the Alfa Romeo 4C that talks the talk should have a racing presence to back it up, but for now, the only competition the two-seater model will see is from the sidelines of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) where it will take over the safety car role.
Alfa Romeo says the 4C was appointed safety car for the new season of the WTCC racing series by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) after winning a poll organized in partnership with the International Automobile Festival (IAF).
The 4C Safety Car is finished in red and comes with a dedicated livery, while power is provided by the stock 1.75-liter turbocharged inline four pushing out 240PS (237hp) for a 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 4.5 seconds flat and a 258 km/h (160mph) top speed
Its track debut will be made on April 12 and 13 at the Moulay El Hassan circuit of Marrakech.
