Nissan’s NV200 commercial vehicle, the one used as a base for New York’s Taxi of Tomorrow, has just been made available for order as a 2014MY in the US, where it starts at $20,240.
The manufacturer is offering it in two trim grades, called S and SV, in addition to options packs that can be specified depending on buyers’ needs and preferences.
The basic model gets a fold-down passenger’s seat and mounting points in the back so that a wide range of racks and the like can be added. Tech options include Bluetooth connectivity, 5.8-inch touchscreen sat-nav, USB input and a reversing camera, and that’s about it…
The only engine it comes with is a 2.0-liter 131hp four-pot which delivers a claimed 24 mpg US combined, while also promising to offer “car-like handling” and a maximum payload capacity of 1,500 lbs; a small turning circle is another one of its plus points, according to the official blurb.
Prices can rise, though not by much, to $21,230, for the higher-spec SV model, and tech toys will definitely add to that number as well.
