Be prepared for a scoop-flavored mystery with this here prototype SUV that was captured undergoing winter tests in northern Europe.

At a first glance, it looks like a 5d Range Rover Evoque on steroids with a bloated front end and wheel arches, and a very upright/uptight grille, but our spy photographer told us that, it could be a test mule for a performance version of the “baby” Discovery-branded model set to replace the Land Rover Freelander/LR2.

To complicate things a bit more, we ran a license plate check on the camouflaged SUV and it turns out that the Jaguar-Land Rover (JLR) group has registered it as a black-colored Jaguar model fitted with a 2.0-liter petrol engine, which could mean it’s a Jaguar test mule for the production version of the C-X17 Concept.

Until we find out more, we think we’ll leave this one with a big question mark.
