Built from 1988 through 1996, the E34 is a car that changed many perceptions about BMW’s 5-Series in the executive sedan category with a more modern approach in styling as well as mechanical and technological solutions than the shark-faced E28. It’s not easy to get a low-mileage sample these days, but it’s not impossible either, as this eBay find proves.
The 1992 BMW 525i in the original Imola Red finish and sadly, an automatic transmission (do you really think I’d share it if it was a manual? I just kid…but only because it isn’t an M5 or this), reads just 14,708 miles (23,655 km) on the electronic odometer. Power comes from a 24v 2.5-liter straight six rated at 189hp (192PS).
It was a barn find discovered by the car’s current owner who brought it up to date just last year at a BMW dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina, and has listed it for auction on eBay with a starting bid of $16,000, which is on the high side for a non-performance / -special BMW of this era.

“In 1991, it listed for $42,000. You will not be disappointed in the quality of the car. It’s a deal at the price I am listing it at. I bought it on Ebay last year for me to drive, but I found a M5. It shipped from Washington to Charlotte. She is the wife of a General contractor. He bought it for her new. She drove it a little, but put it in storage. I have owned 7 other 5 series and the E34 is one of my favorites. I had it shipped directly to Hendrick BMW here in Charlotte and had them go through it to get recalls done, hoses replaced, tires, etc. They went through it with a fine toothed comb. They had it for almost a month, working out all the little details on the car. The battery had leaked creating rust in the battery compartment; they cut it out, welded another piece of steel in and repainted it. Drives like it is new. I know because I’ve driven so many. It’s not perfect, but it is a fantastic find. Call Rusty Reeves at Hendrick BMW and he will tell you himself. CLEAR TITLE. Ready to go!”
