Brabus has given the Widestar treatment to the Mercedes-Benz G500 Convertible, which means the drop-top G-wagen gains a widebody kit and a power increase.

The fact that the short-wheelbase G-Class has been discontinued in 2011 didn’t stop Brabus from offering this upgrade package, which gives the G-Class a dark appearance due to the black paint, smoked headlights, black painted grille, as well as the all-black interior.

The exterior tuning package is similar to Brabus’ recent work on the G 65 AMG, featuring massive wheel arches housing equally impressive 22-inch Monoblock E alloy wheels. Other exterior upgrades include stainless steel running boards, restyled bumpers, LED daytime running lights and LED brake light.

The interior features Brabus perforated leather upholstery, piano black decor and a four-spoke multifunctional steering wheel.

Under the hood, Brabus tuned the V8 engine to develop 462PS (456hp) and 615 Nm (454 lb-ft), up from the standard car’s 388 hp and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft).  The tuner says the engine has a fuel consumption figure of 14.9l/100km (15.8 mpg US) on the combined cycle, which means it’s definitely not the most fuel-efficient SUV on the market…while CO2 emissions are rated at 348 grams per kilometer.
