We can already hear the groans and howls of outrage; why, oh, why did this have to happen to a Ferrari F40? And if we are believe the reports coming out of Ontario, Canada where this accident took place, it wasn’t even the fault of the mechanic who was behind the wheel of the rare F40 when it happened.

In the photos shot by eyewitness Matthew Berenz, you’ll see a damaged Dodge Dart sedan. A report from The Garage Blog says that the unnamed mechanic from Ferrari of Ontario in Toronto was returning from a test drive when “the driver of a late model Dodge Dart ran the red light” whacking the F40 right in the face as it was taking a left turn.

Best-case scenario, the Dart’s insurance company will end up footing a very large bill to get the F40 back to shape – that is, if the Italian supercar legend, of which only 1,315 were made, isn’t deemed a write off.
