Drastically redesigned, but not a whole new model, the 2015 Dodge Charger has an unforgettably mean face and some new features to woo buyers away from other rival sedans of this size and (rear-wheel drive) configuration.

There’s nothing revolutionary about it, but it’s far less easier on the eye than the previous model which was a (disproportionate) dog, in terms of design. This new car, with all new body panels all-round, features the Dodge family face, as well as a rear end similar to that of the Dart, and an interior with new design elements, “including three-spoke steering wheel, 7-inch reconfigurable gauge cluster, premium materials and a choice of eight new trim and color combinations.”

Powering the Charger is either the proven 3.6-liter Pentastar, or the beefy 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that comes with cylinder deactivation and 370 hp. Both come coupled to eight-speed autos as standard, and the smaller-engine of the two is claimed to deliver a best in class combined fuel efficiency rating of 31 mpg.

For 2015, Chrysler has bestowed the Charger with all the latest safety and infotainment toys. It “offers more than 80 available safety and security features, including new for 2015 full- speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control Plus with Full Stop, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, ParkSense rear park assist systems and 9-1-1 call/Assist Call.”

There’s also Chrysler’s Uconnect that now comes with 3D sat-nav and the ability to turn the car into a mobile wireless hotspot.

And finally, it features a (segment-exclusive) Beats Audio System, proof that company co-founder, rapper Dr. Dre is still doing pretty well for himself.
