Arguably, the new BMW i8 is the most futuristic car money can buy today south of the trio of hypercars from Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche. It’s certainly not cheap, but it’s also not completely unobtainable at $135,700 plus destination and handling in the States (or about $20k more than an M6 Gran Coupe), especially if you prefer fancy cars over a roof above your head.

We’ve seen reviews of the i8 before, but this one comes from Chris Harris who says he took a “24 hour trip to Los Angeles” to get behind the wheel of BMW’s sporty-natured i8, which should not be confused with the firm’s purebred M sports cars.

Overall, Harris found himself liking the carbon fibre-reinforced plastic bodied i8 that has a 357hp (362PS) hybrid powertrain comprising a rear-mounted 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol, a front-mounted electric motor and a stack of batteries right in the middle.
