Unlike the other drag strip race between the BMW M235i and the Seat Leon Cupra we showed you from EVO magazine, this one with the new Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and the latest Nissan GT-R actually makes a whole lot more sense, even if the two cars sport different tops.
Porsche’s newcomer, the 911 Turbo Cabriolet, has a 513hp (520PS) turbocharged 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer that shoots it to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.5 seconds or 3.3 seconds with the Chrono package and the Sport Plus function turned on (manufacturer figures). The Germans also offer an even faster and more expensive Turbo “S” model with 552hp (550PS) that reaches 100km/h (62mph) in 3.2 seconds.
Nissan’s GT-R, widely regarded as one of the best/fastest stock cars ever on a straight line, gets a 542hp (550PS) 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which according to the Japanese automaker, allows it to pass the 100km/h (62mph) yardstick in just 2.7 seconds.
As far as pricing is concerned, in base trim in the U.S., the GT-R starts at $101,770 while the 911 Turbo Cabriolet from $163,000 (both MSRPs).
