BMW of North America has entered a 2014 M235i Coupe model in the One Lap of America event that takes place between May 3-10. The stock car is driven by BMW Performance Center Driving Instructor, Michael Renner, and Stephen Maguire of United BMW Roswell of Atlanta.
Competing in the SSGT2 Small Bore Stock Touring class, the M235i Coupe will have to travel 3,249 miles (5,229 kilometers) across the eastern part of the United States during seven days. Originating in South Bend, Indiana, the 2014 One Lap of America takes place in the Eastern half of the United States and includes daily transit stages up to 400 miles (644 km) in distance, skid pad, drag strip, and closed course time trials.
The U.S.-spec BMW M235i Coupe is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine producing 320hp and 330 lb-ft (447 Nm) of torque, allowing it to sprints from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds with the 8-speed automatic gearbox. Top speed is electronically-limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
The BMW M235i Coupe features M-specific chassis tuning which includes standard M Adaptive suspension, M Sport Braking system, variable sport steering, Michelin Pilot Super Sports tires and a specifically-tuned exhaust system.
