While we know of at least one early bird who got his claws on the new M3 last month, the official launch date for both the F80 M3 Sedan and the F82 M4 Coupe is today. To refresh our interest in the two related models, BMW pushed out a boatload of new photos, including some nifty family shots with all five generations of the performance series that dates back to the E30 M3 from 1985.

Today’s the day that BMW also lifted the embargoes on the first drive reviews, and if you must know what the press says, here’s a short list with links to publications and sites that drove the two models (we haven’t found any video tests yet) in no particular order:

MotorTrend; Road&Track; TopGear, Autocar (M3); Car&Driver; Edmunds

Check them out and give your thoughts in the comments below.

As a quick reminder, the new M3 and M4 models are based on the same chassis, share the same 425hp (431PS) 3.0-liter turbo’d straight-six paired to either a 6sp manual or a 7sp dual-clutch automatic, and weigh about 80kg less than their M3 E9X predecessors.

In the States, the M3 starts from $62,000 and the M4 from $64,200, with both MSRPs excluding a $925 delivery charge.
