Would the world be a better place if Buick suddenly announced that it was launching a car similar to the Porsche Panamera in both style and performance, but one that undercut it on price significantly?
Well, if you ask GM Inside News forum user MonaroSS, then that answer would be a definite maybe; he’s the one who created the rendering you see below.
It features the exact hypothetical combination you see explained above, and while the result is a bit forced and unnatural-looking, it’s not really that bad of an idea. The availability of a car along the lines of the Panamera, Audi A7, BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe that would be comparably competent and cheaper I think would be welcome.
According to its creator, this car could even be underpinned by a front-wheel drive biased platform and have engines as small as 2.0- or 2.5-liter, though he does concede that a rear-drive alternative with a transverse V8 would be ideal. He also brings up the possibility of manufacturing in China and shipping it to where it needs to be sold – a prospect not out of the question for some of the brand’s (future) regular models.
