After hearing about the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) five-year product plan for the Chrysler, Alfa Romeo and Jeep brands, the news from Auburn Hills continues with Dodge that will welcome back SRT as a sub-brand as part of a new structure that was announced today. And that’s only the beginning, as Dodge promises to introduce a host of new models over the next four years.
We’ve already seen the facelifted 2015 Charger sedan and Challenger coupe that will be joined by the SRT versions fitted with a new 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 (nicknamed “Hellcat”). The chart shows that the Challenger SRT will be released this August, but there’s a line missing for the Charger SRT (…), though, unless they plan to kill it, we assume the launch will be simultaneous.
Next up is the (2016MY) Viper that will be offered again under the Dodge nameplate and which will be refreshed in July of 2015, followed by a revised Dart sedan in June of 2016, a new Journey crossover in July of 2016, and an all-wheel drive Dart SRT performance sedan with an unspecified turbo engine at the end of the same year.
In 2017, Dodge will release an SRT version of the new Journey and a new Durango.
While many had wrongly assumed that Dodge would present a new replacement for the aging Challenger and Charger this year, this won’t happen for another…four years until 2018. In the same year, Dodge will release a new sub-compact model available in both hatchback and sedan body styles.
