“How many times in your life are you going to get a chance of buying a GM CONCEPT car?” asks the eBay seller of this Chevrolet Highlander Concept from the 1993 Chicago Auto Show, and he makes a good point, especially if you factor in the affordable asking price of $17,000 or best offer.

We won’t disagree with you if you find that it looks more fitting for Stanley Ipkiss (from The Mask) or one of the villains in Joel Schumacher’s vile Batman movies from the mid-1990s, but it’s a piece of colorful history from a different time and auto-culture.

The Chicago Auto Show still has the Highlander on its official website where it describes the study thusly:

“During the 1993 auto show, Chevrolet gave Chicago a hint of the fore coming 1994 S-10 extended cab pickup truck with its Highlander concept. Painted in chartreuse and purple, the two-tone exterior featured custom removable roll bar, a sliding driver side second door, rollbar with driving lights, and a tool compartment on the left side of the bed. Power train consisted of a 4.6-liter V-6 with an automatic transmission.”

As for the name, the Highlander moniker didn’t appear in Toyota’s range until seven years later in April of 2000 at the New York Auto Show.

The Chevrolet study is a fully-working prototype, but on eBay, the seller says it doesn’t have a title, so unless you’re content with placing it on display, you’ll have to ask for more details.
