Pop up the Hyundai Veloster RM Concept’s hood and what you’ll find is a nicely padded space for your bags; that’s because this fully-drivable study turns the Veloster around, both literally and metaphorically, placing a new high output engine that now feeds the rear wheels, right behind the driver.
Presented at the 2014 Busan International Motor Show in Korea, which runs from May 29 to June 8, the two seater model features a 2.0-liter Theta GDI unit generating 295hp or 299PS. Hyundai didn’t provide any additional information on the car’s performance numbers.
At 4,220mm long, 1,865mm wide and 1,340mm tall study is wider and lower than the conventional Veloster, with the body kit that includes blistered wheel arches with big air intakes on the rear fenders and a large wing at the back, signaling that there’s something very different about this Hyundai.
The Koreans said that the chassis has also been upgraded to match the changes to the powertrain setup.
According to Hyundai, “the RM is a concept only to explore possibilities for the Veloster chassis and is currently not related to any future production model”.
