The McLaren P1 is still new enough to be a kind of novelty for the automotive world, and we’re still learning new things about it as the first cars have started reaching US customers.
However, in other parts of the world, the P1s were delivered sooner and owners are reportedly not treating them as future museum pieces, but rather actual hypercars that need to be driven accordingly. Jay Leno said he knows of European P1 owners who’ve clocked in excess of 10,000 km (6,200 miles) on their odometers in the space of a few short months.
In the video below, uploaded by Shmee150, a P1 is drag raced against a Nissan GT-R; a high-speed run is thrown in there too, but it is the way it sets off the line that was the most impressive bit of it.
Usually, one expects the GT-R to shoot off the line faster than any car it’s put up against, though here the rear-wheel drive P1 simply fires off, keeping up with the four-wheel drive PlayStation.
