If you come to think about, the best thing about this overload of SUVs and crossovers that we’re experiencing right now and will continue to do so over the next few years is that, model by model, we’re slowly edging closer to the point that consumers will have had enough.
When that time comes and the SUV trend fades, automakers will be forced to come up with a fresh idea (…or rehash an older idea) and create a different type of vehicle for the masses to reignite their interest. This happens in all industries and there’s no way of escaping it.
For now, however, like it or not, only a select few brands are resisting the sales allure of SUVs. Heck, the fad even has aspiring artists and Photoshop manipulators giving it a shot, like this proposal for a two- or rather three-door version of Porsche’s newly released Macan SUV in an imaginary GTS guise, courtesy of Virtuel Car.
