Riding a longboard with no brakes down a steep road at vehicle speeds – what could possibly go wrong? Well, for five competitors at South Africa’s “Urban Descent 2014” downhill longboard race, things went a bit sour on two separate occasions.
In the first crash, rider Jed Kenny stumbled and was hit by racer Simon Paton, while in the second indecent filmed, Stephen Hayes came off his board and was hit by two other competitors in the race.
The crew at “Gunslinger Longboards” posted a Facebook update on the two big crashes of the event, in which they said: “Jed [Kenny] broke his leg and Stephen [Hayes] is at home resting with no serious injuries”.
