Volvo desperately needs a hot hatch in its range, and the only current contender for such a transformation is… the only hatch in their range, the V40. The Swedes do currently offer it with higher-powered engines, including the new 245 hp T5 unit, but none is tweaked for sportiness.
A Polestar version of the V40 would make sense, and one has already been created in PhotoShop by DesignRM.
Featuring the trademark blue paint finish, the car sits on what look like 19-inch rims, which nicely fill the wider wheelarches of the bodykit.
A rival from Volvo would pose problems for both the mainstream-badged hot hatches and the ones with posher badges too, as it would most likely be priced in between too.
