The all-new Audi Q7 is set to be unveiled at the Paris motor show this fall, and aside from its new design, emphasis on efficiency and expected refinements of the formula, it stands a very good chance of receiving the firm’s new e-boost-enhanced V6 TDI diesel under its bonnet. It will be among the first, if not the first to get it.
The power plant was previewed in the RS5 TDI Concept, a car that was very impressive and undeniably raised a few eyebrows.
The information that it could debut in production form along with the Q7 was obtained by Drive, which got it from Audi’s diesel development boss, Ulrich Weiss. The high-ranking exec said it’s going to happen “very soon,” and even though it’s certain that “Audi will bring it to the market,” it may not happen by the end of 2014.
More interestingly, not even a diesel-powered RS model was taken out of the equation, with Weiss stating that “the RS model is not currently decided, but this does not mean this will not come.” He concluded by saying “the first response we got was looking good, and maybe we have such a market for this in the future.”
