If the layout and particularities of the Goodwood hillclimb course were not clear to you, then it’d be wise to allow ex-F1 driver David Coulthard to tell you what’s what, where each corner is, how fast it should be taken, spicing it all up with a bit of history.
It’s not at all long, measuring 1.86 km or 1.16 miles, featuring nine turns, and its record has been in place since 1999, when Nick Heidfeld stopped the clock just 41.6 seconds after having started (he was driving an F1 racer of the period).
However, it’s not as unfamiliar as it used to be, now that it’s been added to several racing games, both officially and as a fan-made mod.
Goodwood’s never really been about the record any more, though, and those who come to attend the venue don’t do so to see what times will be set, but rather what new cars will be revealed (usually with little or no prior notice).
