Talk about having a bad day; not only did Philip G. Aleo 56, of Malden, Massachusetts crash-land a 1971 Corvette Stingray he borrowed from a friend into several feet of salt water and not only was he stranded on the car’s trunk (perhaps he was afraid of water?), but when help came in the form of firefighters and police, he was arrested for outstanding warrants!

The accident happened off Bourne Avenue in Wells, Maine, just after 6 pm on Sunday, according to Wells police Lt. Gerald Congdon, who told BDN Maine that no one was hurt, but the Corvette, which he estimated to be valued at around $20,000, was almost completely submerged.

After checking Aleo’s license, the police discovered that had an outstanding warrant because he purportedly failed to appear in court and owed fines. After the arrest, he was released on a $711.60 bail.

“Not only did he ruin a friend’s car, he also got arrested,” Congdon told the Boston Herald. “So it was not his best day. I imagine someone’s crying.”
