Besides the Mini Hatch Cooper SD, Mini also announced a new entry-level petrol engine for its core model marketed under the name One First.
Available from July 2014, the Mini One First features a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine that uses turbocharging, direct injection and variable camshaft control on the intake and exhaust side (double VANOS). The engine produces 75PS (74hp) and a maximum torque of 150 Nm (110.6 lb-ft) available from 1,400 rpm.
The Mini One First sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 12.8 seconds and has an average fuel consumption of 5.0 to 5.2 liters per 100 kilometers (47-45.2 mpg US), dependent on selected tyre format. The CO2 emissions rating is between 117 and 122 grams per kilometer.
With this new model, Mini now offers seven power units for the all-new Hatch, including four petrol and three diesel engines – all of which are newly developed.
