French carmaker Renault afforded us today an outline of its upcoming RenaultSport Trophy competition model that will join the “World Series by Renault” in 2015. We’ll see it for the first time during its world premiere at the Moscow International Automobile Salon (MIAS) that runs from August 27 to September 7.
Among the few details provided by Renault, is that the new Trophy racecar will be built by Dallara and feature a carbon monocoque, a Nismo-sourced engine producing more than 500-horses connected to a 7sp sequential gearbox from Sadev, with Michelin to develop a specific tire for the package that will weigh around 1,100 kg or 2,435 pounds.
Renault said it has just began an “intense programme of development tests” to prepare the Trophy car for next year’s World Series championship that will be completed in nine rounds from April through October.
