See the sticker above the “1JZ-GTE” decal that reads “Путь Самурая” on the rear passenger window of this mid-1990s Toyota Mark II (with a 2.5-liter turbo’d straight-six) ? That’s Russian for “Way of the Samurai”.
Ironically, in Japan, Samurai committed hara-kiri or seppuku, which literally means “stomach cutting” (with a sword) as part of the samurai bushido honor code for a number of reasons, such as killing themselves in the battlefield to avoid falling into the hands of their enemies or out of pure shame.
The following dash-cam video was shot from a distance, so we can’t see exactly what happened, but the driver does seem to suddenly turn the wheel and hit the grass with force as if he wanted to kill his car.
There’s no need for a warning, though, as the Russian driver walked away unhurt – unlike his ride…
