Surprise, surprise Audi is face-lifting the regular Q3…well, not really as just the other day, our man with the long lens caught a prototype of the performance version of the series, the RS Q3, dressed in camouflage. However, the changes for the regular Q3 appear to be more extensive and include a revised face.

Along with the new headlamp and tail lamp fixtures that are common with the updated RS version, the standard Q3 also sports a redesigned front bumper and grille, with both featuring horizontal bars, perhaps in an attempt to make the compact SUV look wider.

As mentioned in our piece on the RS Q3, we expect some subtle improvements inside, while the Germans may also tweak the Q3’s powertrains.

Audi has said that the Q3 will go on sale in the U.S. this fall offered with a single engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline four delivering 200-horses and paired to a standard six-speed Tiptronic transmission in front- and all-wheel drive versions. It would make sense if Audi offered the facelifted Q3, but we’ll know for sure in the coming months.
