For this year’s AMI (Auto Mobil International) motor show in Leipzig, Volkswagen is presenting two world premieres: the production version of the Golf Edition and the Beetle Cabriolet Karmann. You may remember the former from this year’s Beijing Auto Show, where VW has showcased a premium concept with the same name dedicated to the Golf’s 40th anniversary.

The production version of the VW Golf Edition features xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, machine polished 17-inch “Singapore” design wheels, and tinted rear and side windows. On the inside, the premium ambience is due to the Alcantara leather seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, leather gearshift boot, black roof lining and illuminated door sill plates.

There is also a “Premium” multifunction display, “Composition Media” radio system and assistance systems such as the Light & Sight package (includes automatic running light switching and intermittent windscreen wiper with rain sensor), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection systems.

VW’s second world premiere at the AMI Leipzig is the VW Beetle Cabriolet Karmann, inspired by the Golf Cabriolet Karmann released late last year in Germany. The special edition Beetle features 18-inch “Disc” design wheels with chrome caps, sport seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, aluminum pedals and dash pad with Beetle look in matt aluminum.

The Sioux Brown soft top comes with a matching tarpaulin and can be combined with seven different exterior body paints. Based on the regular Beetle’s Design equipment line, the Beetle Cabriolet Karmann also comes equipped with a wind deflector and the Park Pilot parking distance monitor. Order books open in June.
