Renault went to great lengths to lighten their Megane RS in order to win back the title of fastest front-wheel drive car to lap the Nurburgring Norschleife, but it may all have been in vain, because another RS, the Ford Focus, was recently spotted testing and looked really fast and composed.

TouriClips was on the track sidelines and managed to record a few passes of what appears to be a mule of the upcoming extreme hot hatch. Believed to pack as much as 350hp and over 400 Nm (~300 lb-ft) of torque, the Focus RS will be kept front-wheel drive and have its traction aided by clever front suspension, a clever diff and (probably) wider/bigger tires.

The car seen in the video below is the very same one our spies sent us photos of earlier in the week.

The only thing that’s missing from it is a five-cylinder warble; the mule sounds like just another force-fed four-pot.

There’s also a slight probability that this isn’t an RS model, but if it is, it’ coming in 2016, according to this older report.
