Land Rover has officially announced its list of updates for the 2015 Range Rover and the Sport. The most important improvement is the torque increase brought about for the SDV8 diesel engine, which now makes 40 Nm / 29 lb-ft more torque than before. Buyers will also now be afforded even greater freedom to personalize their Range with new exterior and interior colors, as well as new wheels.
With the torque boost, the 4.4-liter V8 diesel’s total figure goes up to 740 Nm / 545 lb-ft, and this is said to improve in-gear acceleration by (a manufacturer quoted) 6.5 percent from fifth to eight gear. The ZF 8HP70 gearbox has not been left untouched, and now features a reengineered torque converter to cope with the extra pull. However, fuel efficiency and emissions numbers are unchanged, despite the increase.
Other updated features include new puddle lamps that “now project each vehicle’s silhouette onto the ground at night to light the way for occupants,” a fixed panoramic roof with powered blinds and new design 19-inch Satin Dark Grey finish rims for standard wheelbase models, while stretched ones can be had with sophisticated 22-inch alloys for the very first time.
The Sport gains a wider color choice palette, additional in-car tech including Land Rover InControl, which will be available in the US, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. InControl is Land Rover’s new proprietary infotainment system that borrows look/features from Apple’s CarPlay, but makes them available to both iPhone and Android users; it first debuted on the 2015 Evoque.
