There has been quite a lot of talk about GM bringing the Opel Cascada Stateside under the Buick brand and it appears that it will finally happen in 2016. Buick will have a busy schedule next year in the US, when it will reportedly launch the Envision mid-size crossover, a new generation of the LaCrosse sedan and the Cascada convertible.
According to Automotive News, the latter will likely arrive in Buick’s US showrooms by early 2016, powered by the same 2.0-liter engine found in the Regal and Verano. It is not clear whether Buick will retain the Cascada name though.
The recently-unveiled Buick Envision will also arrive in the US, with the crossover expected to launch the second half of 2015 as a 2016 model. Again, it is not sure whether it will be sold under the same name in the United States.
In China, the Envision will be powered by a 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 256 hp and 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. The unit will be fitted as standard with stop/start technology and mated to a new-generation six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will be also standard.
The report from Autonews says that another big launch Buick next year will be the next-generation LaCrosse sedan, expected in late 2015 or early 2016 as a 2016 model. The LaCrosse may get a revolutionary design and be positioned as a more premium proposition. It will be the first vehicle build on the newest iteration of GM’s Epsilon mid-sized vehicle platform, dubbed E2XX, which also will be used by the next generations of the Chevy Malibu, Chevy Impala, Regal and others. The LaCross may also get a smaller engine than the current 3.6-liter V6.
