If you are a wealthy Ferrari fan who thinks the LaFerrari is too common, no need to worry. The Italians are reportedly working on an open-top version of their hypercar and on an even more rare and hardcore model, the LaFerrari FXX track-exclusive beast.
Both models are said to launch in 2015 in very limited numbers – 50 for the LaFerrari Spider and 30 for the LaFerrari FXX. The LaFerrari Spider will cost roughly twice the price of the coupe, according to insiders cited by CAR magazine. That means it will have a price tag of around £2 million ($3.42 million).
An open-top LaFerrari would not be hard to build, given that the coupe’s chassis composite construction makes it very stiff. The chassis is made from hand-laid, pre-preg carbon fiber, with Ferrari claiming the tub of the LaFerrari is 20 percent lighter and 25 percent stiffer than the Enzo’s.
As for the FXX version, it will be a track-only car not homologated for road use that will be looked after by Ferrari and driven by owners only at private circuit events. Just like its predecessor, the FXX will be even more powerful than the standard car, with the V12 and the electric motor rumored to produce a combined 1,050 hp, 100 hp more than the street-legal model.
As a consequence, the LaFerrari FXX should be even faster than the standard car, which sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and reaches a top speed of more than 217 mph (349 km/h).
